History and Achievements
of REBA |
The Residents of
Eagle Bay Association was established nearly 20 years ago to
preserve and enhance the interests of Eagle Bay and its residents.
Since 1990 it has actively monitored developments affecting the
area, represented the interests of members, worked to enhance the
environment and sought to encourage community spirit. REBA’s
activities have included: |
- Preserving Lot 48 (with our fire shed, car
park and access to Rocky Point and the beach) for public use by
changing the title from freehold able to be sold by the Shire to
Crown Land - achieved
- Lobbying to maintain the existing path to
Rocky Point in face of plans to close it and relocate it with a
poorly conceived alternative - current
- Supporting the Eagle Bay Volunteer Bush Fire
Brigade and its fire safety activities - ongoing
- Ensuring that location, design and
construction of facilities like footpaths, playground equipment
and toilets provided by the Shire are sympathetic to the
character of Eagle Bay– continuing
- Developing (in cooperation with the Shire) a
Special Area Character Policy to guide planning and development
within the Eagle Bay townsite – completed
- Restoring eroded dunes along the beach,
removing weeds, revegetating the Jingarmup Brook reserve and
other environmental improvement projects – continuing
- Organising community activities such as the
annual Sandcastle Competition, working bees etc
